Referee Lesson Plans (Scroll Down) August 31, 2009: Old Referee Course Lesson Plans Removed from AYSOHelp.org In March 2008, new lesson plans for referee courses were created but the old lesson plans were left on AYSOhelp.org to ease the transition for referee instructors who were in the process of planning the delivery of courses. The old lesson plans have now been removed. Please use the current lesson plans on this page for any future referee course instruction. If you have questions or concerns related to either the old or new lesson plans, please send them to NRC.instruction@ayso.org. Note to Referee Instructor and Advanced Referee Instructor candidates: the requirements for these certifications have not changed. Referee Instructor candidates must have successful evaluations, preferably with two different qualified Referee Instructor Evaluators, as an instructor in a 30-minute presentation from the Basic Referee Course and as an instructor in a 30-minute presentation from the Intermediate Referee Course. Advanced Referee Instructor candidates must have a successful evaluation by a qualified Referee Instructor Evaluator as an instructor in a 60-minute presentation from the Advanced Referee Course. Note to Mentor/Advisor candidates: In the Referee Advisor Handbook, the requirements for becoming a Referee Advisor include completing referee training module 19. This should be interpreted as a requirement to complete "The AYSO National Referee Program" section of the Intermediate Referee Course lesson plan. March 19, 2009: New and Updated Referee Courses Newly revised referee course teaching plans are now available for download below. These documents simplify the job of instructors to deliver referee training by providing self-contained teaching plans for the U-8 Official, Assistant Referee, Basic Referee, Intermediate Referee, and Advanced Referee Courses. In addition, three upgrade courses have been created that offer easy upgrade paths for U-8 Officials to become Assistant Referees or Regional Referees and for Assistant Referees to become Regional Referees. Click here for a chart showing the relationship of entry-level training courses and certifications. Finally, the referee instructor courses have been updated to reflect the new course plans. Click here to view the instructor course teaching plans. These revised files for each course (except Safe Haven & Referee Administrator Training) can be downloaded as a single .zip file (left side) or as stand-alone files (right side). |
